YOUR'E NOT ALONE
Many people go through life feeling unfulfilled. Perhaps you've been thinking that money is the answer. But money can only satisfy physical needs. It won't fill the gap that's deep down in the very depths of your soul. Maybe you have a deep need for a loving partner, or the love of friends and family. Or perhaps you crave fame or success in life. These are very real needs but in the long term they are not completely satisfying. There's still a need for something more.
WE ALL HAVE NEEDS
Humans have many needs. At the most basic level are the physical needs of food, clothing, safety and shelter. On the next plateau are the emotional needs. The security of loving and being loved. As well as these are the social needs. A sense of belonging or being accepted into particular social groups. Then there is the need for self-esteem and the feeling of success. Akin to this is the need for self-fulfilment. Possessing a genuine feeling of worth is important to our psychological makeup. If you lack any of these important human needs then you may feel incomplete as a person.
THE MOST IMPORTANT NEED
But there is another basic human need which is often overlooked yet its importance surpasses all other human needs. As a human being you were created for a very special purpose. You were created in the image of God for fellowship with Him. If you are not fulfilling your spiritual purpose for living then you will always carry that deep seated emptiness.
FULFILLING THIS NEED
In order to restore a right relationship with God we need to follow several basic steps. Firstly, we need to recognize that we are all sinners. Romans 3:23. Sin is the barrier that prevents us from enjoying fellowship with God. Secondly, we must realize that the guilt of our sin and the effects of sin are responsible for much of the unhappiness that we feel within. We must make a conscious decision to follow God's way rather than our own. This step is called repentance and is not a once only experience but an on-going state of mind. Acts 3:19 Thirdly, we should realize that God is willing to forgive us for any sin that we may have committed no matter how bad it may seem to us. 1 John 1:9 This has been made possible through the death of His Son Jesus Christ who died in our place so that the debt for our sin has been paid. Romans 6:23 God has promised us the gift of the Holy Spirit as our guarantee that we are the sons of God having the promise of eternal life. Ephesians 1:13,14 In the power of the Spirit of God we are able to live in love toward God and our neighbour.
WE HAVE A LOVING FATHER
Once we come into a right relationship with our Heavenly Father he will ensure that our emotional and physical needs will be met. He has promised this in the Bible. Matthew 6:25-34. God wants to fill your life with meaning and purpose. He wants to fill you with His love, His peace, His joy. He longs to fellowship with you. Come to Him. Talk to Him just like you would talk to a trusted friend. Pour out your soul to Him. He listens. Confess your sin to Him and ask Him to become Lord of your life. He will answer your prayer. God has a plan for your life. He loves you. He will fill that emptiness within your life and enable you to fulfil your purpose for living.
